LO QUE ME HABITA

I am a Colombian multidisciplinary artist based in Austin, Texas. I was born in the Andes, and my practice is also shaped by the nineteen years I lived in New York City. My work explores migration, ancestral memory, and the deep relationship between people and the land. Through painting, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, and installation, I investigate the visible and invisible forces that move across generations and borders and continue to shape our identities.

My current body of work, Lo que me Habita (What Lives Within Me), is influenced by the living landscapes of the Andes, ancient mural traditions, and the rock art of the Colombian Amazon. These visual languages guide my exploration of memory, territory, and ancestral knowledge as living systems in constant transformation, rather than simply as remnants of the past.

Using hand-printed marks, natural fibers, layered surfaces, and handcrafted materials, I create works that evoke maps, skins, landscapes, and forces. My process reflects the ways memory is carried with us, transformed, and preserved through migration, accompanying us into new places. Rather than representing displacement only as loss, my work considers the ancestral knowledge, resilience, and cultural memory that people carry with them as they cross borders.

Through these works, I invite viewers to think of the land as a living archive and migration as a space where memory, identity, and a sense of belonging are continually transformed and reimagined.
